Pyrolysis Companies in Namibia

Carbonsate Namibia focuses on turning encroaching bush in Namibia into permanent carbon storage. Their innovative solution involves storing sustainably harvested biomass in a controlled, oxygen-free environment to prevent decomposition and lock away carbon for over 100 years. This process aims to remove CO₂ from the atmosphere, restore ecosystems, and generate local economic benefits. The project is planned for implementation in Q1 2025 in Otjiwarongo.

Oiltech Namibia operates a tire pyrolysis plant in Windhoek, converting waste tires into valuable resources like "Tyre Pyrolysis Carbon Black". The plant is solar-powered and uses a "Completely Enclosed Process" to prevent environmental contamination. They also collect and recycle waste oil, used cooking oil, and oil/diesel filters.

Omiti Biochar builds carbon removal and land-restoration projects in Namibia by sustainably harvesting encroacher bush biomass and converting it into biochar. Their model focuses on restoring rangelands, developing rural livelihoods, and achieving high-integrity carbon removal. They have been operational and producing biochar since 2023. In partnership with Planboo, BluSky Carbon and Ikigai Carbon, they are deploying biomass pyrolysis technology.

PyroNam, a subsidiary of Pyrogenic Carbon and Storage Namibia (PyroCCS), is dedicated to converting encroaching bush biomass into biochar in Namibia. They operate a high-tech industrial biochar plant in the Otjozondjupa region near Otjiwarongo. They have ambitious plans to establish 50 biochar manufacturing plants by 2030, and 500 within the next decade. Their process produces biochar for soil improvement and carbon credits, and they also re-use smoke and wood gas to produce energy, tar, and wood vinegar, ensuring minimal waste and reduced climate-damaging emissions compared to conventional charcoal production.
